As you might have noticed, it took us quite a while to update you on the situation of the shipment to Malawi.The shipment arrived as planned on the 15th of december at Lilongwe airport. However, at that point, the agent we hired concluded that picking up only 50kg of goods was not worthwhile and the boxes were left by the storage at the airport.
It took Gresham quite some efforts, some days spent in Lilongwe and a lot of good will to sort the situation out. At the end, he managed to convince the agent to give the money back and contacted a new one to have the goods cleared at the customs. This took a while because of the festivities of the last few days. Finally the goods arrived directly in Nkhata Bay last sunday morning.
They were immediately distributed.
Everyone was very happy of the material we sent for the shelter. The expectations for the level of the lessons has now increased further and Gresham and Mrs Mwasangwale think they will one day reach (or even surpass) the level of Wukani. We do hope this dream of theirs will become a reality.

Come forse avrete notato ci abbiamo messo un po' per aggiornarvi sulla situazione del pacco spedito in Malawi. Il pacco è arrivato come previsto il 15 dicembre all' aeroporto di Lilongwe. A quel punto, l' agente che avevamo assunto per sdoganarlo ha deciso che non valeva la pena sdoganare e trasportare fino a Mzuzu solamente 50kg di merce e quindi le nostre scatole sono rimaste in giacenza in aeroporto.
Gresham ha dovuto fare più di uno sforzo, ricorrere a tutta la sua intraprendenza e ha trascorso più di un giorno a Lilongwe. Alla fine è riuscito a convincere l' agente a restituire i soldi ed un altro a fare lo sdoganamento. Il tutto ha richiesto più tempo del previsto a causa delle festività dei giorni passati.
Alla fine i pacchi sono arrivati a Nkhata Bay domenica scorsa e il loro contenuto distribuito ai legittimi proprietari.
Sono stati tutti molto felici di ricevere così tanto materiale per lo shelter. Le ambizioni di Gresham e Mrs Mwasangwale sono ora ancora maggiori: sperano di poter raggiungere il livello di insegnamento di Wukani e perfino di superarlo. Speriamo che questo loro sogno si possa avverare un giorno!
