The first works for the construction of the shelter have started by now. As said in the past, the first step is going to be the clearance of the ground. The terrain in Nkhata Bay is rather hilly and tough and so this is going to be hard work!
Unfortunately the workers currently working on this are not at ease with photographs and they did not want to have any taken because of their personal culture. Gresham is trying to discuss this with their boss...let's see whether he will manage to convince them!
In the meanwhile, the Traditional Authority of the area has approached Gresham. He has noticed that there are development works ongoing in the area he is responsible for and he enquired about Marajowi. After being updated, he concluded that this will certainly upgrade the area and as a consequence his authority. He told Gresham, he is ready to support Marajowi also within the community if needed. This certainly is encouraging news!!
I primi lavori per la costruzione del nuovo shelter sono iniziati. Come già detto, la prima cosa da fare è bonificare il terreno che in Nkhata Bay è piuttosto collinoso e arido.
Sfortunatamente i costruttori che sono alle prese con ciò non vogliono essere fotografati a causa delle loro credenze religiose e culturali. Gresham ha provato a parlare di ciò con il loro datore di lavoro...vediamo se riusciranno a trovare un accordo.
Nel frattempo l' Autorità Tradizionale dell'area è andata a parlare con Gresham. Avendo notato che sono iniziati dei lavori di costruzione nell' area di cui è responsabile, ha voluto sapere qualche dettaglio su Marajowi. Dopo essere stato informato, è giunto alla conclusione che la costruzione di un nuovo shelter comporterà una rivalutazione dell'area e quindi anche del suo ruolo di capo. Ha assicurato Gresham che darà il suo supporto nel caso questo fosse necessario, anche all'interno della comunità. Un'altra buona notizia !!
