Not long ago thanks to IWCU we were able to buy a lot of new raw material for the carpentry and sewing workshops at Bandawe School for the Hearing Impaired. The students are keeping on building furniture and sewing uniforms (see photos below)
Just to give you an idea one new bed can be sold at the nearby market for 15.000 - 25.000 MK (approximately 20 - 30 EUR) which is enough to buy a new set of needles for the carpentry workshop.
Selling a uniform to the neighbouring schools ensures 1500 to 2500 MK (approximately 2 - 3 EUR) depending on the size. So to buy new thread they will need to sell at least 10 uniforms.
Non molto tempo fa, grazie alla IWCU, siamo riusciti a comprare del materiale nuovo per il laboratorio di falegnameria e quello di cucito alla scuola di Bandawe. Gli studenti continuano a produrre mobili ed uniformi scolastiche come quelle nelle foto.
Giusto per darvi un'idea, un letto può essere venduto al mercato per 15.000 - 25.000 MK (circa 20 - 30 EUR) che è quanto serve per comprare dei set di chiodi nuovi. Servono invece almeno 10 uniformi per comprare del nuovo filo da cucire, visto che, a seconda della taglia, un'uniforme scolastica può essere venduta a 1500 - 2500 MK (circa 2-3 EUR).
