Clement goes first...Inizia Clement

It was a very intensive day, with a full programme. The distribution of the gifts started from Clement who gave the present to the kids he is taking care of: Witness, Ramos, Joyce and their siblings. As obvious from their smiles, everyone was very happy.

E' stata una giornata con un programma molto intenso. Clement è stato il primo a distribuire i regali e li ha dati ai ragazzi di cui si occupa: Witness, Ramos, Joyce ed i loro familiare. Come chiaro dai loro sorrisi, sono rimasti tutti molto felici.

The presents are in Nkhata Bay...i Regali sono a Nkhata Bay

The presents reached Nkhata Bay just after Christmas. This year we have decided to make things  a bit differently and we have asked Clement, Lerapie and Frighton to agree with each other the best way to distribute gifts to all the children at the same time.

Given the risk of rain (because of the rainy season), they decided to have all the celebrations in a place with a roof and selected the Big Blue Backpackers in Nkhata Bay.

For the first time since the start of Marajowi, all the participants were sitting together at the same place and there was a common event for everyone.

I regali sono arrivati a Nkhata Bay subito dopo Natale. Questa volta abbiamo deciso di fare le cose in modo leggermente diverso e abbiamo chiesto a Clement, Lerapie e Frighton di organizzarsi in modo da distribuire i regali a tutti i bambini allo stesso tempo.

Visto il rischio di pioggia (è ora periodo di monsoni in Malawi), hanno deciso di allestire l'evento in un posto che garantisse un tetto sulla testa ed hanno selezionato il Big Blue Backpackers a Nkhata Bay.

Per la prima volta dalla nascita di Marajowi, tutti i partecipanti erano riuniti insieme per un evento organizzato per tutti loro.

Home for Christmas....Natale a casa

Also in Malawi it is time for holidays. All the kids are not enjoying 2 weeks off at home, in Nkhata Bay.

Anche in Malawi è tempo di vacanze. Tutti i ragazzi si stanno godendo due settimane di riposo a casa, a Nkhata Bay.

Christmas presents...Regali di Natale

Also this year, Father Christmas is on its way to Malawi to distribute a lot of presents. In the photos some example of gifts. Thanks everyone for making this possible.

Malita and Bandawe...Malita e Bandawe

Malita is really happy. We can confidently say that in this school she finally found her element and an environment where she easily fits in. She constantly sends greetings and is eager to get on pictures for us.

Malita è molto felice e possiamo tranquillamente dire che in questa scuola ha trovato finalmente l’ambiente che fa per lei ed è del tutto a suo agio. Ci manda in continuazione i suoi saluti e le piace molto posare per foto da mandarci.

Learners produce beaded jugs and bowl covers, school uniforms, gym attires, blouses and shirts for the school to sell.

Gli studenti continuano a produrre vari manufatti, uniformi scolastiche, tute, magliette e pantaloni da vendere alle scuole adiacenti e ai mercati.

The poultry project is slowly taking place in Bandawe. If you remember last June the students started molding and burning the bricks. However the school soon received a directive from the office to stop using the students for these activities. They then had to look for other suitable alternative.

The school is owned by the mission Reverland. Just last week the land was blessed so that the project can officially start. Here the oven ready for the bricks to burn.

Il progetto per costruire il pollaio sta cominciando lentamente. Lo scorso giugno gli studenti hanno cominciato a fare i mattoni, ma la scuola è stata presto richiamata dalla sede centrale che gli ha detto di non usare gli studenti per queste attività. Di conseguenza Lerapie ha dovuto cercare le possibili alternative.

La scuola è proprietà di una missione, la Riverland, che solo la settimana scorsa ha benedetto il terreno e ha dato il benestare per iniziare a costruire il pollaio. In foto il forno per cuocere i mattoni.

Deborah and the school uniform...Deborah e l'uniforme scolastica

Deborah is a happy girl and she started performing better at school since she is part of Marajowi. Now for the first time the school she attends, Little Steps, enforced everyone to have an uniform. This was provided for Deborah so that she could easily fit in the class. Now she is really happy to go to school.

Deborah è una bimba felice e da quando fa parte del circolo di Marajowi ha cominciato ad andare meglio e più volentieri a scuola. Ora per la prima volta la scuola che frequenta, la Little Steps, ha imposto a tutti gli studenti di indossare un’uniforme. Grazie a Marajowi Deborah ha potuto comprarne una ed ora è ancora più contenta di andare a scuola.

Jeritah and her family...Jeritah e la sua famiglia

Jeritah welcomed Frighton with a big smile when he went to visit her at her place. Afterwards he left the adults talk with each other and went with some friends to the borehole to pick up some water for washing. 

Jeritah ha accolto Frighton a casa sua con un enorme sorriso. Poi ha lasciato gli adulti a parlare ed è andata con alcune amiche a prendere l’acqua dal pozzo per lavare i panni. 

While Frighton was there she washed her clothes and hanged them to dry, like she always does. Her mom said she a very polite girl, always smiling and well behaved. The house where she lives is also clean and all the donated items are well kept. 

Mentre Frighton era lì ha lavato tutti i vestiti e li ha messi ad asciugare al sole, come fa quasi tutti i giorni. La mamma ha detto che è una bimba molto gentile, educata e sempre sorridente. La casa in cui vive è molto pulita e tutti gli oggetti che le sono stati dati da Marajowi tenuti in ottimo stato.

Unfortunately she is not doing well at school, since she started attending it only after Marajowi started supporting her. We hope that some extra part time lessons will help her catch up with her studies.

Sfortunatamente Jeritah non va bene a scuola, anche perché ha cominciato a frequentarla solo dopo essere stata selezionata da Marajowi. Speriamo che qualche lezione extra le permetta di migliorare presto il suo rendimento scolastico.
